SUPREME COURT : BNSS Provision Capping Maximum Undertrial Term Applies To PMLA

The court held that beneficial provision of S.479(1) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which corresponds with S.36A of CrPC, will apply to prosecution under PMLA

The first proviso  to Section 479 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) states that first-time offenders can be released on bail if they have been detained for up to one-third of the maximum imprisonment period:
